General
Wretched City RP is strictly an 18+ community. By participating, you confirm that you are at least 18 years of age. Failure to comply will result in removal.
Use of Common SenseNot every situation will be covered in the rules. Players are expected to use common sense and act in good faith to maintain a fair and enjoyable environment.
Respect & ConductRespect all players and staff at all times. Toxic behavior, harassment, discrimination, or intentional disruption will not be tolerated.
Semi-Serious Roleplay StandardThis is a semi-serious server. While fun and creativity are encouraged, actions should still make sense within the roleplay environment. Avoid unrealistic or troll behavior that breaks immersion.
In-Character (IC) vs Out-of-Character (OOC)Keep IC and OOC separate at all times.
- IC issues should be handled in character
- OOC issues should be handled respectfully outside of RP (or through staff if needed)
Staff decisions are final. If you have concerns, navigate to our discord waiting room or create a general ticket. Give respect and you will receive respect back.
Rule AwarenessIt is your responsibility to stay up to date with server rules. Claiming ignorance will not excuse rule breaks.
Roleplay Rules
Killing or seriously harming someone without valid roleplay reason or proper build-up.
- Valid: You have an ongoing conflict, argument, or situation that escalates naturally.
- Not Valid: Shooting someone because you're bored or "felt like it."
If it doesn't make sense in a real situation, it's probably RDM.
Vehicle Deathmatch (VDM)Using a vehicle as a weapon without proper roleplay reasoning.
- Valid: Hitting someone accidentally or during a realistic, high-pressure situation.
- Not Valid: Running people over on purpose with no RP behind it.
Cars are tools — not weapons (unless the RP actually supports it).
Fail Roleplay (Fail RP)Acting in a way that breaks realism or ignores the situation you're in.
- Valid: Reacting appropriately to injuries, threats, or your surroundings.
- Not Valid:
- Acting like you're not injured after being shot
- Pulling a gun on 5 people with no backup
- Doing unrealistic or "gamey" actions
If it wouldn't happen in real life, don't do it here.
Fear Roleplay (Fear RP)Valuing your character's life and acting like it actually matters.
- Valid: Complying when outnumbered or clearly at a disadvantage.
- Not Valid: Ignoring guns pointed at you or acting fearless in life-threatening situations.
Forcing actions onto others without giving them a chance to respond or doing things that aren't realistically possible.
- "/me knocks you out instantly" (no chance to react)
- Performing unrealistic superhuman actions
Using information your character wouldn't realistically know.
- Using Discord/Twitch info in-game
- Recognizing someone you've never met just by voice/name
- After your character dies, you forget the events leading up to your death.
- Don't return to the same situation or seek revenge based on that memory.
- Treat it as a fresh start for that scenario.
In-Game Language
Strict about no OOC leaks:
Lootboxing & NITRP Rules
All players are expected to maintain realistic roleplay behavior at all times. Exploiting mechanics or refusing to roleplay properly will result in punishment.
Lootboxing is the act of taking or interacting with items from a player or situation in an unrealistic or exploitative way that breaks immersion.
NITRP refers to a player who is not properly engaging in roleplay or is actively avoiding it.
Examples of Lootboxing- Rapidly searching/downing players with no RP interaction
- Taking items mid-situation without proper roleplay
- "Speed looting" without acknowledging the scenario
- Treating players like storage containers instead of characters
- Looting must be done through proper RP interaction
- Allow situations to play out realistically
- Do not rush, spam, or exploit inventory systems during active RP
- Refusing to participate in roleplay situations
- Ignoring commands or scenarios without valid RP reason
- Acting completely unrealistic (trolling, random behavior, breaking immersion)
- Treating the server like a deathmatch or sandbox game instead of RP
- Players are expected to remain in character and engaged
- Repeated refusal to RP will result in removal from the server
Police Interaction Rules
Police interactions are part of the roleplay experience. Both civilians and law enforcement are expected to act realistically and keep the situation immersive.
Compliance vs Resistance- When outnumbered, restrained, or clearly at a disadvantage, you are expected to comply realistically.
- Do not ignore police commands without a valid RP reason.
- However, resistance is allowed when it makes sense within the situation (escape attempts, negotiations, etc.).
- You are allowed to talk, negotiate, and create scenarios during police encounters. Not every situation has to end in immediate compliance or arrest.
- Keep it realistic and within reason. Don't stall endlessly or avoid RP.
- Do not treat police like NPCs.
- Do not run into unrealistic safe zones repeatedly (spamming buildings, exploit looping mechanics, etc.).
- Play the situation naturally and fairly.
- If you are clearly outgunned, surrounded, or in custody, act accordingly.
- Fear RP still applies during police interactions. Don't act invincible or unrealistic.
- Law enforcement must follow proper escalation procedures.
- Verbal commands → Warning → Action
- Random aggressive force without RP justification is not allowed.
- Police are expected to create RP, not just end it.
Once detained or arrested, continue roleplay appropriately. Do not disrupt the scene or refuse all interaction without reason.
Robbery Rules
Robberies are allowed but must always be done with proper roleplay, clear intent, and realistic execution. Random or "for fun" robberies are NOT permitted.
Value of Life Applies- During any robbery situation, all players must value their lives realistically.
- If you are clearly outnumbered, outgunned, or at a disadvantage, you are expected to comply.
- Do not act fearless or ignore life-threatening situations.
- You must give a clear interaction and the weapon must be visible before or during a robbery (verbal threats, demands, negotiation).
- Allow reasonable time for the situation to develop.
- Do not instantly shoot or force outcomes without RP interaction.
- Both sides should have a chance to respond.
- Do not spam actions or rush outcomes in a way that prevents reaction.
- Allow space for negotiation, compliance, or escalation.
- Do not rob players repeatedly for no reason.
- Do not target the same individuals or groups out of frustration or trolling.
- Robberies should have a story or motive behind them.
- If police are nearby or likely to respond, you must acknowledge the risk and adjust your RP accordingly.
- You can still proceed with robberies if realistic, but expect consequences.
- Police are allowed to push if players do not have a hostage visible.
- Do not ignore active law enforcement presence.
Robberies should not be initiated in unrealistic or heavily restricted areas unless server systems explicitly allow it.
Post-Robbery ConductOnce a robbery ends, do not immediately return to the same scene to continue conflict unless RP naturally leads back to it. Respect the outcome of the situation.
Kidnapping & Hostage RP Rules
Kidnapping or taking hostages must have a valid in-character reason (conflict, leverage, gang activity, negotiation, etc.). Random kidnapping with no RP purpose is not allowed.
Value of Life (Hostages & Victims)- Hostages must value their lives realistically during the situation.
- Kidnappers must also act realistically and understand risks (police response, retaliation, etc.).
- Do not act fearless or ignore life-threatening situations from either side.
- Situations should be roleplayed out with communication, negotiation, and escalation.
- Do not immediately kill, injure, or "end" a hostage situation without RP interaction.
- Law enforcement and kidnappers are expected to allow negotiation to take place.
- Talk, demands, and exchanges are encouraged.
- Do not rush to force outcomes without giving the situation time to develop.
Do not take excessive hostages just to gain unfair advantages or force outcomes.
No Abuse of Hostages- You cannot hold a hostage for more than 45 minutes. You must automatically let them go if the mission has failed.
- Do not randomly harm or kill hostages without RP justification or escalation.
- Any harm must be part of the evolving RP scenario, not used as trolling or pressure tactics.
- Kidnapping situations will trigger police attention and escalation.
- Be prepared for realistic response times and outcomes.
- Do not ignore the presence or likelihood of law enforcement involvement.
- If you do not have a hostage, police are able to initiate.
Once a hostage situation ends, all parties must respect the outcome and not immediately re-engage without proper RP reason.
Safe Zones & Hospital Rules
Certain areas are considered protected spaces to ensure fair roleplay, recovery, and realistic downtime. These areas are not to be abused for avoidance, combat evasion, or trolling.
Safe ZonesSafe zones are locations where hostile actions, robberies, or active criminal engagements are not allowed unless explicitly permitted by staff or server systems.
Common Safe Zones Include (unless stated otherwise):
- All Hospitals
- Police Department / Government buildings
- Staff run events or protected RP scenes
- Clothing / Barber Shop
- Inside player owned business
- Player spawn areas
- No killing, robbing, or initiating hostile RP in safe zones
- No using safe zones to escape active RP (running in to avoid consequences)
- You may enter safe zones to recover, interact, or reset RP situations appropriately
- If a situation starts outside a safe zone, it must not be abused by repeatedly fleeing into one to avoid RP.
- Repeatedly entering/exiting safe zones to bait or escape RP is not allowed
- Using safe zones as a "reset button" for ongoing situations will be punished
- Players are expected to respect the purpose of these areas.
While Injured / Downed:
- You must roleplay injuries realistically (pain, limited movement, etc.)
- Do not talk, act, or fight if your condition does not allow it (depending on server mechanics)
- Always follow your injury state properly.
Medical RP Respect:
- Allow EMS/medical staff to perform their roleplay properly
- Do not interrupt or disrupt medical RP without valid reason
- Medical situations should be treated as active RP scenes.
Hospital Abuse:
- Do not use the hospital as a safe escape from active combat or police pursuit
- Do not return immediately to ongoing conflict after respawn unless RP allows it
- Once treated/revived, you should act according to your injury and situation.
Return to RP (Post-Treatment):
After being treated or revived, you must not instantly re-engage in the same active scenario unless logically and realistically allowed within RP context.
Punishment System
Wretched City RP uses a structured punishment system to ensure fairness, consistency, and accountability. Staff decisions are based on severity, intent, and repeat offenses. All warnings, strikes and bans are recorded.
WarningsWhen Warnings Are Issued:
- Minor rule breaks
- First-time offenses
- Unintentional mistakes (depending on severity)
Important Notes:
- Warnings are tracked and stored
- Multiple warnings can lead to harsher punishment
- Repeated behavior will not be treated as "new mistakes"
A strike is a serious punishment given for major or repeated rule violations.
When Strikes Are Issued:
- Repeated rule breaking after warnings
- Serious Fail RP, RDM, VDM, or abuse
- Disruptive or harmful behavior to the server experience
Strikes can be removed over time. Every 30 days strikes will be reviewed and reduced if players have not committed any violations during those 30 days.
Strike System:
Coming Soon BansA ban is removal from Wretched City RP for a set period or permanently depending on severity.
Ban Types:
- Temporary Ban: Applied for serious but non-permanent offenses
- Permanent Ban: Applied for extreme or repeated violations
Reasons for Ban:
- Severe or repeated rule violations
- Exceeding Strike points
- Toxic behavior or harassment
- Exploiting, cheating, or intentional disruption of RP
- Continued disregard for staff decisions or warnings
Zero Tolerance Violations
The following may result in an instant ban without warning:
- Cheating or exploiting
- Severe harassment or hate speech
- Intentional disruption of the server
- Refusal to follow staff direction
- Sexual harassment of female or male or any underage remarks
- Excessive bullying (beyond RP)
- Disrespecting pronouns (if mentioned and ignored)
High Command Discretion
Not every situation fits perfectly into a category. High Command (ONLY) reserves the right to adjust punishments based on context, intent, and impact on the server.
Ban Appeals
- If you believe a punishment was unfair, you may submit a staff appeal through our discord channel and request a ban appeal form.
- Be respectful and provide clear evidence or explanation
- Do not spam or argue with staff in-game or in public channels
